Mount Revelstoke National Park and the Meadows in the Sky Parkway are open seasonally, with a shuttle bus operating during the peak season. The 26 km (16 mile) road is rather narrow with 16 switchbacks. Larger vehicles will not reach the summit parking lot.

About This Day

While visiting British Columbia, take the family up the Meadows in the Sky Parkway for the views over Mount Revelstoke National Park. It's an incredible outdoor family weekend adventure. Hike in sub-alpine meadows and take in great views from the summit. Next, head to the 3 Valley Gap for some more fun. The kids will enjoy the chance to explore historic train cars. Also, don't miss the 3 Valley Gap Heritage Ghost Town. If you want to make it an overnight excursion, spend an evening camping. The Revelstoke Campground offers nice amenities for campers. This easy getaway weekend is one your family will remember for a long time.

The Meadows in the Sky Parkway offers families an incredibly unique chance to see and explore the summit of Mount Revelstoke without the difficulty of hiking up the entire mountain. 26 kilometers of paved road takes you to the summit parking lot. It's surrounded by forests of cedar and hemlock, spruce and fir and the incredible sub-alpine wildflower meadows. Learn the history of the area while checking out the historic fire tower located at an elevation of 6360 feet (1900m).
DIRECTIONS Mount Revelstoke National Park is located east of the city of Revelstoke. The Meadows in the Sky Parkway can be accessed via Highway 1.
TIP The parking lot at Balsam Lake fills up very quickly. Arrive early to ensure you don't have to park along the road.

3 Valley Gap is a great family getaway that includes a chateau and the 3 Valley Gap Heritage Ghost Town to explore. For train lovers, this is a wonderful destination with historic train cars open for you to wander through. Also, spend hours exploring the ghost town, getting a sneak peak into life around the turn of the century.
DIRECTIONS Located 21 km (13 miles) west of Revelstoke on the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1).
TIP Give yourself lots of time to explore and wander. There are a number of exhibits that will capture your attention, you won't want to be in a rush.
