As one of the most well-known roadside attractions in America, Wall Drug is also a historical landmark that is worth the stop along the boring stretch of I-90. It is filled with kitschy souvenirs, fun photo ops and plenty of interesting things to look at. The history behind it is quite intriguing, as well as how much it feels like a major crossroads. You will see license plates from all over the country in the parking lots. Wall Drug is a family-oriented stop with clean restrooms, kid-friendly food and plenty of room to stretch your legs. Our nuggets really enjoyed this stop because of all the fun things to see and climb on. Plus, all the souvenirs to look at and spend their money on.
DIRECTIONS Wall Drug is very easy to find along I-90 through South Dakota. In fact, there are billboards advertising it all across the state!
TIP If you have active little ones and you visit the gift shops, be aware there are breakable items. There is room for strollers in most shopping areas. Wall Drug is a stop that can be a quick one to just take a few minutes to stretch your legs and use the restroom. The café in Wall Drug has a laid back, country feel to it with the western art gallery adorning the wood paneled walls. There is plenty of seating and room for strollers. The wide variety of food choices will appeal to adults and kids. The price is right too. Wall Drug is known for free ice water and 5 cent coffee. Our nuggets enjoyed the french fries and the homemade donuts the most. They also enjoyed looking at all the "horse and cowboy" paintings on the wall.
DIRECTIONS The restaurant is inside Wall Drug, just follow the signs or ask any employee how to get there.
TIP If it's a nice day, take your food out to the Backyard to let the kids run around while you relax and eat your food. There are picnic tables all around the play areas and there is also a large fence around it to keep kids from running into the parking lot behind the building.
