Baby Beach - home to a natural “kiddy” ocean pool - is a little cove hidden in a residential area of Poipu. There’s only limited street parking here. Bring an umbrella. Except for a little tree on the most eastern side of the beach there is little shade.

The natural “kiddy” pool may disappear at high tide. It’s still fun and safe for older kids, but very young ones might not like the sudden wave action during this time of day.

About This Day

Spend the day at Poipu’s most child-friendly beach, Baby Beach - a secret little cove protected from the strong waves by rocks that create the perfect swimming pool for little explorers. Once you’ve had enough sand and sun, head over to Da Crack for their crowd-pleasing Mexican food. For dessert treat your family to the best shaved ice on Kauai at Loco Coco. All syrups are homemade from fresh fruit and contain no artificial flavors or colors. You’ll never go back to an old-fashioned shaved ice after you taste it! And of course, you can always head back to Baby Beach and enjoy more time at our favorite Poipu beach.

Baby Beach provides a natural swimming pool for even the littlest kid to play in the water. The pool isn’t big, but the beach was never crowded when we were here. There is a little tree on the most eastern side of the beach that provides shade, but you might want to bring an umbrella too. The beach itself is not very big and it’s right in front of the houses off of Hoona Road, but it’s still pretty.
DIRECTIONS Baby Beach is just off Hoona Road, in a residential neighborhood on the east side of Poipu. There’s no official parking, but you can park on the road. Look for a small set of stairs between the houses to access the beach.
TIP There's no lifeguard on duty and no official parking lot, but you can park on the side of the road.

Da Crack is a small counter service that came highly recommended by two local girls we met at the airport in Honolulu. Da Crack’s food portions are generous and the food is tasty. The roasted pork bowl was my favorite.
DIRECTIONS Da Crack is a 10-minute walk from Baby Beach right next to Kauai Outfitters (you may want to drive if it’s a hot day).
TIP Since it’s only a counter serving food, seating is very limited. There are a couple of benches, but you’ll have to get lucky to score a seat. If you don’t plan to grab ice cream for dessert you might be more comfortable taking the food to go.

Loco Coco is a tiny food truck right next to Da Crack that serves one of the best shaved ice you’ll ever taste. Their syrup is made in small batches from fresh fruit. They don’t use artificial flavors or colors, and you’ll certainly taste the difference.
TIP Loco Coco’s truck is parked on a busy parking lot. Keep a close eye on little kids that like to wander off.
