I am the author of http://www.TheCompassIsCalling.com - a family travel blog. I am currently living in Finland with my husband and son, experiencing temporary expat life. We have always had plans to travel wide and often, but life simply gets in the way sometimes. We make compromises, we put things off until next year, and we push our travel goals further down the line in exchange for things we deem valuable or important at the time (often monetary).

What my family and I have come to realize over time, is that nothing is more important or valuable than the memories we make together, and travel is one of the only things you can buy that makes you richer. In the last year, we have made some big changes – including selling nearly everything we own – in order to live with more freedom to do the things we want, when we want. Travel has always been our big passion and we’ve taken some amazing trips. We enjoy history, culture, traveling off-the-beaten-path, and trying new things in new places.
