This full day out on your family trip to London offers something for everyone. Afterward, a trip to London wouldn't be complete without seeing Camden Market. While at Camden Market, pop in to Poppie's Fish and Chips for a British staple. TIP If you or your little ones don't have the patience to line up in front of the palace gates, consider arriving just in time to see the Queen’s soldiers marching down the street on their way back to the barracks.
The Royal Mews is responsible for the transport of the Queen and other members of the royal family via horse-drawn carriage and motor car. During the visit, you are able to view many of the carriages including the Scottish and Irish State coaches, the Diamond Jubilee Coach and the Gold State Coach. You'll also see some motor cars and even some of the Queen's horses.
DIRECTIONS The Royal Mews is located on Buckingham Palace Road, and is walking distance from the palace.
TIP There is a free guided tour as well as a self-guided audio tour. The children's activity room is complete with games and craft activities.
Camden Town is a fun, quirky and popular North London neighborhood. Shops filled with everything imaginable line the streets, from mainstream brands to vintage treasures. In Camden Town you'll find Camden Market, a maze of wonderful stalls and shops filled to the brim with tasty treats, funky art, clothing, toys, housewares and so much more. Somehow this popular neighborhood has managed to keep it’s off-the-beaten path feel, while at the same time making itself completely accessible to everyone.
DIRECTIONS Take the Tube to the Westminster stop, a three-minute walk from the Royal Mews, and get off at Camden Town. It will be a four-minute walk to Camden Market from the tube station.
